AI for scientific hypothesis generation

A current research thread on why I care about systems that help experts reason across literature and evidence.

I see scientific hypothesis generation as a natural next frontier for AI systems because it requires more than fluent text. It requires evidence retrieval, structured reasoning, disagreement, uncertainty, and a way to expose assumptions to domain experts.

The part that interests me most is the interface between intelligence and accountability. A useful research system should not just sound confident. It should show what it used, what it ignored, where it is uncertain, and how a domain expert can challenge it. That is the kind of system I want to build: not magic, not a shortcut around expertise, but an instrument that helps careful people move faster.
